Data Access, Storage & Retention

Checkout Blocks strives to limit the amount of data stored externally from Shopify. The following outlines what data is stored and for how long.

What data do you store?

Customer data

What data?

We store customer ids within our analytic events. No other customer information is stored external to Shopify.

Why?

In order to provide insightful customer level analytics, we require the Shopify customer id.

Product Data

What data?

Depending on the block-level configuration, we may store product ids, product types, product vendors, and product variant ids.

Why?

This information is only stored when added through upsell blocks, as block-level display rules, or as a shop-level configuration such as product block lists.

Shop Data

What data?

Basic shop information such as timezone, currency, customer languages, email, phone, country code, name, url, plan type.

Why?

This data is required in order to assist with customer support and personalize the onboarding experience.

Where is my data stored?

We leverage AWS (Amazon Web Services) for both our web hosting and database. We also leverage Google Cloud hosting for some background tasks. All servers are located within the United States.

How long do you keep my data?

We currently store configuration data and any accompanying analytics until they are deleted by you or requested for redaction through Shopify's redaction policies.

Who else has access to my data?

We leverage Mixpanel & Segment analytics to drive internal analytics (non-merchant facing) and share shop and block level data. No customer level PII (Personally identifiable information) is shared. We also leverage Microsoft Clarity for hotspots to identify product improvements and any data is deleted after 30 days per their retention policy.

Can I request my data be deleted?

Yes. Email support at checkoutblocks dot com and request deletion of data and provide any required proof of verification.
